Introduction
I recently visited the Kempinski Hotel, the originator of Bangkok’s ‘Asa-Champagne’ and breakfast buffet experience, located about a 5-minute walk from BTS Siam Station, and would like to share my review.
Kempinski Hotel Siam: The Originator of Bangkok’s ‘Asa-Champagne’
Located approximately a 5-minute walk from BTS Siam Station, the Kempinski Hotel is known as the originator of Bangkok’s ‘Asa-Champagne’. To reach it from Siam Station, head north, passing straight through Siam Paragon. The Kempinski is a large, 5-star hotel.
Regarding ‘Asa-Champagne’, I touched upon it briefly in an article about Ekaraak Bangkok in Thonglor. It’s short for “champagne in the morning.” While I’m unsure if it’s a globally recognized term or a Bangkok invention, the Kempinski Hotel in Siam is widely considered the birthplace of this concept in Bangkok. ‘Asa-Champagne’ refers to enjoying champagne (sparkling wine) while indulging in a breakfast buffet at a hotel.
The ‘Asa-Champagne’ experience at Kempinski Hotel comes with a premium price tag: 1400B++ (1638B) for the breakfast buffet combined with free-flow sparkling wine. This is considerably higher than Ekaraak Bangkok in Thonglor, which costs 913B. However, you can feel the hotel’s pride and elevated status, befitting its status as the originator. The breakfast buffet selection is, as expected from a 5-star hotel, outstanding. You can even enjoy the wine with added fruit purees like mango or peach for a stylish twist. I felt it’s more suited for special occasions rather than casual outings, unlike the more accessible Ekaraak.
The Kempinski Hotel’s ‘Asa-Champagne’ and breakfast buffet starts at 6:30 AM, with last order at 11:00 AM. I couldn’t make it that early, so I arrived around 8:00 AM. It seemed fine to stay a while after the last order.
Kempinski Hotel Menu (Photos, Prices, Reviews)
Naturally, I opted for the ‘Asa-Champagne & Breakfast Buffet’ priced at 1400B++.
The sparkling wine served was the South African “Cape Discovery Brut,” a crisp and easy-drinking wine. Similar to Ekaraak, the staff poured it for me. However, at the wine station, you’ll find glasses prepared with mango and peach purees, allowing you to mix your own stylish sparkling wine concoction.
For food, there was an impressive array of cold cuts, salmon, fruits, yogurt, freshly baked bread, and a noodle station (Kuay Tiew), among other options. You can freely help yourself to as much as you like.
There were also dishes available to order. Those marked with a “K” are recommended. Among the dishes I tried, the “Hint of Phuket” was particularly delicious – an egg dish with crab and cheese. It had a similar feel to Eggs Benedict but with a distinct, superb crab flavor. The “Avocado Smash” was also excellent, an open-faced sandwich generously topped with avocado and a poached egg.
There were many other delicious dishes, so I recommend going with a group and sharing to try a variety.

Kempinski Hotel Siam Recommendation Score
To be helpful, I’ll assign a score in line with Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site). For the Kempinski Hotel Siam, offering ‘Asa-Champagne’ and a breakfast buffet, I personally rate it around a 3.3 on the Tabelog scale (3.5+ = well-regarded).
The high rating comes from the luxurious experience of enjoying Bangkok’s original ‘Asa-Champagne’ and breakfast buffet. The wine can be enjoyed on its own or stylishly mixed with fruit purees. The food quality is, as expected from a 5-star hotel, undeniably delicious and presented beautifully. It’s a hotel worth considering if you want to experience ‘Asa-Champagne’ in Bangkok. On the other hand, it lacks the cost-performance of Ekaraak in Thonglor, so it’s best to choose based on the occasion.
In Conclusion
The Kempinski Hotel Siam, offering an ‘Asa-Champagne’ and breakfast buffet, is recommended for those who want to enjoy Bangkok’s original ‘Asa-Champagne’ experience in a luxurious setting.
