I recently visited the Isaan food restaurant “Sabsudjai” located about a 14-minute walk from BTS Thonglor Station, and I’d like to share my review.
About the lively Isaan food restaurant “Sabsudjai” in Thonglor
Sabsudjai is located north on Sukhumvit Soi 55 from BTS Thonglor Station, and then turning into Thonglor Soi 9.
If you happen to be walking around this area of Thonglor in the early morning, you might see groups of tipsy Thai people. They are likely returning from a club or from Sabsudjai. Sabsudjai is open daily from 11 AM until 5:30 AM.
At night, Sabsudjai’s vibrant pink neon sign stands out in the darkness. It looks like a place where energetic young people gather. The interior is also stylish, and the menu and Chim Chum hot pot have a fun, pop feel.
Sabsudjai Menu (Photos, Prices, and Review)
I ordered the “Chim Chum Oxtail Set for 250B”. The plate and the Chim Chum pot both have a pop design, as shown in the photo. The soup had a sour broth, with a tanginess like tomatoes. This is a Chim Chum that younger people, tired of the usual style, might enjoy. Even as someone who likes a traditional Chim Chum, I found it quite appealing.
I also tried the “Khomu Yang (Beef) for 119B”. This was delicious as well.
By the way, a large bottle of “Singha Beer” was 120B.
Sabsudjai Recommendation Score
To be helpful, I’ll assign a score similar to how Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site) does. For the Isaan restaurant “Sabsudjai” in Thonglor, I personally estimate it to be around a 3.3 on the Tabelog scale. I’ll leave this note here.
The lively atmosphere, popular with Thai youth, is a strong point. The taste of the Chim Chum, while not strictly traditional, had a pop style that I personally liked. So far, I have no negative points to mention.
