Introduction

I recently visited the yakiniku restaurant “Genpukan”, located about a 4-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong Station.

About the yakiniku restaurant “Genpukan” in Thonglor

“Genpukan” is located about a 4-minute walk from BTS Thong Lo Station, along Thong Lo Road (Sukhumvit Soi 55).

Genpukan is a yakiniku restaurant that was founded in Fukuoka Prefecture about 70 years ago. They have a total of 8 branches in Fukuoka and Tokyo, with one branch here in Thong Lo, Thailand. The sauce has been passed down for 70 years.

Menu at “Genpukan” (Photos, Prices, Review)

I visited for a holiday lunch on this day. There were 7 lunch menu options across three categories: authentic charcoal-grilled yakiniku sets, set meals, and donburi bowls, priced between 200-400 THB++.

I ordered the “Pork and Beef Mix Charcoal Yakiniku Set 300 THB++”. In addition to the yakiniku box (pork, beef, sausage, grilled vegetables, kimchi, namul), it came with rice, soup, barley tea, and shaved ice. The rice, soup, and barley tea were refillable.

The meat was coated in a sweet and savory sauce, but I was curious about the special 70-year-old sauce, so I tried dipping it into the secret sauce after grilling. It was rich and delicious. The spiciness was just right for Bangkok’s heat. The meat quality was also good.

Recommendation Rating for “Genpukan”

To be helpful, I’ll assign a score similar to Tabelog. For “Genpukan” in Thonglor, I personally estimate it to be around a 3.2 on Tabelog, so I’ll note that down.

Conclusion

“Genpukan” in Thonglor is recommended for those who want to enjoy a yakiniku lunch at an affordable price!
