Introduction
I recently visited the popular Kuay Tiew noodle shop “Zaew Soi 49” located about a 6-minute walk from BTS Thonglor Station, and I’m here to share my review.
About the popular Kuay Tiew noodle shop “Zaew Soi 49” in Thonglor
Zaew Soi 49 is located about a 6-minute walk from BTS Thonglor Station. From BTS Phrom Phong Station, it’s about an 11-minute walk. Zaew is situated at the entrance of Sukhumvit Soi 49.
There are always many customers at Zaew. When I visited, a line had already formed just after 11 AM.

Besides the Soi 49 branch, Zaew also has a location on Sukhumvit Road in Thonglor. The menu and taste are quite different, so I’ve written a separate review for the Sukhumvit Road branch. Personally, I find the Soi 49 branch to be more delicious. Be prepared for a queue during lunchtime.
Zaew Sukhumvit Road Branch: Popular Kuay Tiew Noodle Shop in Thonglor
Menu at Zaew Soi 49 (Photos, Prices, and Review)
I ordered the “Meat and Vegetable Noodles, Large Size (with soup, Bamee noodles)” for 90 THB. I visited around 11 AM and just managed to get the last seat. Since it was crowded, it took about 20 minutes for the dish to arrive. Unlike the Sukhumvit Road branch, the noodles, ingredients, and soup were all served in a single bowl. Given it was the large size, it was very filling, probably a full portion for one person (I estimate the regular M size Kuay Tiew is about 0.7 servings).
The ingredients included minced pork, pork chunks, and fish paste, along with green onions, bean sprouts, and what I believe was cilantro.
Upon tasting, the broth was slightly richer than the Sukhumvit branch. Once you try it, you’ll understand why the Soi 49 branch is more popular. Personally, I prefer the Soi 49 branch over the Sukhumvit Road branch, and even more so, I prefer Rung Reuang in Phrom Phong. However, my Thai friend prefers Zaew Soi 49 among the three. That said, the interior of the Soi 49 branch is, to put it mildly, not very clean.

Zaew Soi 49 Recommendation Score
To be helpful, I’ll assign a score following the style of Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site). For Zaew Soi 49, a popular Kuay Tiew noodle shop in Thonglor, I personally feel it’s equivalent to a 3.3 on Tabelog. I’ll leave this note here.
Conclusion
Zaew Soi 49 in Thonglor is a popular Kuay Tiew noodle shop that draws a crowd during lunchtime. With its affordable prices, it’s a place you can easily visit frequently.
