Introduction
I recently visited the incredibly affordable food court “Pier 21” in the shopping mall “Terminal 21”, located adjacent to the north side of BTS Asoke Station, and would like to share my review.
Terminal 21’s Budget-Friendly Food Court “Pier 21”
Pier 21, the budget-friendly food court on the 5th floor of Terminal 21, features about 20-30 booths offering primarily Thai and other Asian cuisine. What makes Pier 21 stand out is its unbelievably low prices. You can enjoy both meals and drinks at prices comparable to street food stalls.
The reason for this is Terminal 21’s strategy. Terminal 21 adopts a strategy of investing more in its food court than in advertising, reportedly spending 20 million baht annually on the food court. This allows them to keep booth rental fees low, resulting in cheaper prices compared to food courts in other shopping malls.
How Pier 21 Works (Prepaid Card System)
Cash is not accepted at Pier 21, so you’ll need to purchase a prepaid card at the counter. Hand over the amount of cash you wish to load to the staff, or indicate the amount with your fingers if you expect change. QR code payments via bank apps are also accepted.

Pier 21 Menu (Photos, Prices, and Reviews)
At Pier 21, you can purchase your desired dishes and drinks from any food stall and bring them to your table. Everything at Pier 21 is incredibly affordable! It’s great to be able to taste authentic Thai and Asian cuisine at these prices. As you get more accustomed to Bangkok, the hurdles of eating at street food stalls (hygiene, language) tend to decrease, but before reaching that point, the Terminal 21 food court is a very convenient option. By the way, there is no alcohol served here as it is a food court.

Pier 21 Recommendation Score
To be of some use, I will assign a score modeled after Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site). I personally feel that Terminal 21’s budget-friendly food court, Pier 21, corresponds to a 3.4 on the Tabelog scale.
Conclusion
Terminal 21’s incredibly affordable food court, Pier 21, is recommended for many people, especially those new to Bangkok. It offers authentic Thai and Asian cuisine, fresh fruit juices, and desserts at prices comparable to street food, which might be challenging for Bangkok beginners to try. It’s also a great option for families with children!
