Introduction

I recently visited “Yakiniku Maeda,” located about an 18-minute walk from BTS Ekamai Station, and I’m here to share my review.

About the Japanese BBQ restaurant “Yakiniku Maeda” in Ekamai

About an 18-minute walk from BTS Ekamai Station, you’ll find “Donki Mall,” a popular spot for Japanese residents, located on Soi Ekamai 5 (Sukhumvit 63). You know the jingle: “Don Don Don Donki~ Donki Hote~!”. Yakiniku Maeda is situated on the 3rd floor of this mall. Since it’s a bit far from the station, it’s best to take a motorbike taxi, tuk-tuk, or a regular taxi. From Thong Lo Station, it’s about a 21-minute walk. It’s a great spot to visit while you’re out shopping at Donki.

Yakiniku Maeda Menu (Photos, Prices, Review)

One of the great things about Yakiniku Maeda is that they offer lunch sets even on weekends. Unlike Ginza Do Thonglor branch, which only serves à la carte on weekends, I learned about Yakiniku Maeda from a follower on X.

I ordered the “Beef Tongue & Diamond Cut Kalbi Lunch Set (290B++)” and the “Pork Assortment Lunch Set (250B++).” The Beef Tongue & Kalbi set was about 120g. The Pork Assortment set included pork jowl, pork belly, pork neck, and sausage, totaling around 150g. It was quite a generous portion. Both sets come with a Japanese-style BBQ lunch (rice, seaweed soup, kimchi, namul, ssamjang) and green tea. All lunch sets include one free refill. They use a traditional Japanese charcoal grill.

The beef tongue was delicious! It was topped with salt and green onions, and served with a squeeze of lemon. It was plump and juicy. The kalbi was large, so we cut it with scissors. It was thick and juicy. The pork dishes were also tasty in their own ways.

Although we were full, they had ice cream for an additional 60B++. I’ll have to try it next time.

Yakiniku Maeda Rating

To provide some context, I’ll assign a score similar to Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site). I’d personally rate Yakiniku Maeda in Donki Mall Ekamai around a 3.3, which is well-regarded, comparable to a 3.3 on Tabelog. Here’s my note on the scale: 3.5+ = well-regarded.

Conclusion

Yakiniku Maeda in Donki Mall Ekamai is recommended for those who want to enjoy a cost-effective yakiniku lunch on weekends. One free refill is included for all items except meat and drinks.
