I recently visited the Korean restaurant “Bornga” located about a 15-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong Station, and I’d like to share my review.

The Korean restaurant “Bornga” is located about a 15-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong Station. It’s on the second floor, above the popular chicken dish restaurant “Ise” and the high-end ramen shop “Kaisugi,” both of which I’ve previously reviewed. Bornga offers “banchan,” the all-you-can-eat side dishes familiar at Korean restaurants. While Kiani in Thonglor had five types, Bornga serves eight types, including kimchi and salads. Of course, refills are free. It was a shame there were no namul, but all the kimchi were delicious.
The interior of Bornga is very spacious, utilizing the area luxuriously. While you can enjoy a great value on weekdays, it’s likely considered a high-end restaurant in the evenings. There is also a private VIP room available for use at 300 THB.
Bornga Menu (Photos, Prices, Reviews)
I visited for weekday lunch on this occasion. They have very reasonably priced weekday lunch-only set menus. The main dish comes with banchan and watermelon for dessert.
I had the “Stir-fried Pork Bulgogi Style (319 THB++)”. This was truly delicious. Marinated pork stir-fried with vegetables in a sweet and spicy gochujang-based sauce, it had a very rich flavor that went perfectly with rice. Although it’s the most expensive dish on the weekday lunch menu, I recommend meat lovers try it at least once.
I also tried the “Sundubu Jjigae Set (239 THB++)”. This was also delicious. It contained seafood and had a rich broth. Its richness made it perfect with rice.
The “Stone Pot Bibimbap Set (239 THB++)” was lighter, with delicious vegetables. For those who prefer a richer taste like me, I added plenty of gochujang and mixed it thoroughly. That’s it, it was delicious with the crispy rice at the bottom.
Soft drinks were 40 THB++, and a medium Asahi draft beer mug was 100 THB++. Reasonably priced.
Although not part of the weekday lunch menu, samgyeopsal and grilled meat seem to be their signature dishes, so I’d like to try them next time.
Bornga Recommendation Score
To be helpful, I’ll assign a score following the style of Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site). For the Korean restaurant “Bornga” in Phrom Phong, I personally feel it’s equivalent to around a 3.8 on Tabelog, so I’ll leave this note.
A key factor for the high rating is the surprisingly delicious weekday lunch at a modest price. The free-refill banchan also contributes positively. All the dishes are delicious, making it my current provisional number one Korean restaurant in Bangkok. It has a high-class atmosphere with good taste, and the VIP rooms seem practical. The prices might be high for the evening menu, but I can’t find any negatives so far.
Conclusion
The Korean restaurant “Bornga” in Phrom Phong is recommended for those who want to eat delicious Korean food. The weekday lunch menu, in particular, offers a cost performance that will not disappoint.
