Introduction

I recently visited the manga cafe & restaurant “Orange House” located about a 7-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong Station, and I’m here to share my review.

About the manga cafe & restaurant “Orange House” in Phrom Phong

Orange House, a manga cafe and restaurant, is situated about a 7-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong Station, along Sukhumvit Soi 39. It’s located right next to “Haruranman Cafe,” a manga cafe and cafe we previously introduced.

As you head north on Soi 39 from Phrom Phong Station, you’ll see the Orange House sign on your left, making it easy to find. You’ll likely also spot the sign for “weber,” a barbecue grill located on the same premises.

Orange House is well-known among Japanese residents in Bangkok not just as a manga cafe or restaurant, but primarily for its bento boxes, as they deliver them daily to students at the Bangkok Japanese School. It appears they are extensively involved in bento sales at the storefront, bento delivery to homes, catering for parties and events, dinner kits, and delicatessen items.

The space is quite large, able to accommodate individuals and families comfortably. It seems to have a capacity of around 40-50 people. Because of this, each person has ample space. Many customers were enjoying lunch while reading manga, and everyone seemed relaxed and able to spend their time without feeling cramped. Manga rental is available for 60 THB per hour.

“Orange House” Menu (Photos, Prices, Review)

It was very hot, so I started with a “Singha Large Bottle 130 THB+”. It was a welcome refreshment in this heat. It came with an onion salad. This onion salad was cold, crisp, sweet, and tangy—delicious! It paired perfectly with the beer. I realized I shouldn’t underestimate Orange House as just a bento shop.

When I asked the proprietress for a snack recommendation, she suggested the “Tsukune and Lotus Root 100 THB+”. I ordered it and it was fantastic. The minced chicken patty was sandwiched between crispy lotus root slices and coated in a sweet sauce. Truly, Orange House offers more than just bento. Their culinary sense is excellent, and they clearly understand what drinkers enjoy.

I also tried a bit of the “Hiyashi Chuka (cold ramen) 150 THB+”. The taste was indistinguishable from authentic Japanese hiyashi chuka.

“Orange House” Recommendation Score

Hoping this might be helpful, I’ll assign a score following the style of Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site). For the manga cafe & restaurant “Orange House” in Phrom Phong, I personally estimate it to be around a 3.3 on the Tabelog scale.

Conclusion

The manga cafe & restaurant “Orange House” in Phrom Phong is an astonishingly versatile establishment, offering manga reading, delicious food, alcoholic beverages, and bento boxes. It’s a highly convenient spot for Japanese residents living in Bangkok.
