Introduction
I recently visited the Japanese yakitori and mizutaki izakaya “Toriyahana” located a 5-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong station, and I’d like to share my review.
About the Yakitori and Mizutaki Izakaya “Toriyahana” in Phrom Phong
Toriyahana is located just a 5-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong station. To get there, turn off Sukhumvit Road onto Sukhumvit Soi 41, then take the first small alley to the right. It’s about a 13-minute walk from BTS Thong Lo station.
Many people living in Bangkok have likely heard of Toriyahana. I knew it as an izakaya where you could have affordable banquets. Their banquet course, featuring 10 dishes and a 3-hour all-you-can-drink option, costs only 1000 THB. Considering many other establishments charge over 1000 THB for just 2 hours, Toriyahana’s value is clear.
Toriyahana has four floors. The first floor has a counter, the second floor is a non-smoking tatami room with sunken seating, and the third floor is a smoking tatami room with sunken seating. They recently created an event space on the fourth floor. The sunken seating is a great plus for families with children!

Toriyahana’s Menu: Weekends Lunch (Photos, Prices, Review)
While Toriyahana is famous for its banquet courses, my top recommendation is their weekend-only lunch and happy hour, which is perfect for daytime drinking. The weekend lunch menu offers six options: Tatsuta-age lunch, Chicken Nanban lunch, Chicken Thigh and Shrimp Chili-style lunch, Oyakodon lunch, Chicken Soba lunch, and Chicken Zosui lunch. All are priced at 200 THB, and include unlimited soft drinks. Telling my kids, “Let’s go to a place with a drink bar,” always gets them excited. Although not on the menu, Calpis Soda was also available.
I tried the “Chicken Nanban Lunch (200 THB)”. The salad that came first, with its onion dressing, was delicious. The Chicken Nanban itself was quite large, almost like a whole chicken thigh was used. The homemade tartar sauce was a great complement, making it a very tasty dish. It comes with rice and miso soup.
I also tried the “Chicken Soba Lunch (200 THB)”. Again, a salad was served first, followed by the chicken soba (ramen) and tatsuta-age. As someone who prefers richer flavors, I found it a little lacking, but my kids absolutely loved it.
During lunchtime, they also have a happy hour with beers and highballs at 50 THB, wine at 70 THB, imo and mugi shochu at 50 THB, various sours at 50 THB, and umeshu at 50 THB. Considering the prices and variety, their happy hour is very competitive. For daytime drinking at an izakaya, there’s also “Ebisushoten,” but Toriyahana is cheaper and offers more variety.

Toriyahana’s Menu: Evening (Photos, Prices, Review)
As mentioned earlier, the 10-dish, 3-hour all-you-can-drink banquet course for 1000 THB is a foolproof choice for dinner. You can choose between the “Mizutaki Course,” which focuses on hot pot chicken stew, and the “Jidori Grill Course,” which includes assorted raw chicken sashimi and griddle-sautéed dishes. Both courses include their signature assorted yakitori. If you go with a friend, you can enjoy both by ordering one of each. Although the courses are very generous in portion size, if you’re still hungry, you can add any of the 20 types of yakitori for 35 THB per skewer. Even better, children drink for free! Toriyahana is a versatile izakaya suitable for gatherings with friends, colleagues, or family.
Since I was dining with friends, we tried both the Mizutaki Course and the Jidori Grill Course.
The “Assorted Appetizers (3 types)” served first were so good, they could easily go with three beers! The “Assorted Raw Chicken Sashimi” was not only delicious but also served in a generous portion, reportedly sourced fresh that morning from Klong Toei Market. The “Toriyahana Special Cabbage Salad” and “Tatsuta-age” were also tasty. Then came a rapid succession of dishes: the “Assorted Yakitori” and the “Griddle-sautéed Chicken.” The portions were so large that I was already full by this point. We left the “Mizutaki,” “Zosui (rice porridge) to finish,” and “Dessert” for the younger members of our group. We left feeling satisfied, even receiving a complimentary “Japanese-style Baumkuchen” as a souvenir, which wasn’t part of the course.
I’ve written quite a bit without even mentioning the all-you-can-drink option, but it offers a wide variety and was very satisfying (please refer to the menu photos for details).

Toriyahana: Recommendation Score
To be helpful, I’ll assign a score based on the Tabelog scale. I personally feel that Toriyahana, the yakitori and mizutaki izakaya in Phrom Phong, would be equivalent to a Tabelog score of 3.5 (well-regarded). I’ll leave this note here.
The restaurant scores highly for its affordable and delicious weekend lunch & happy hour, as well as its satisfying evening banquet courses. If they could further elevate the food quality or develop an even more outstanding signature dish while maintaining these prices, they would be unbeatable.
Conclusion
Toriyahana, the yakitori and mizutaki izakaya in Phrom Phong, is recommended for those who want to enjoy daytime drinking with its affordable weekend lunch & happy hour. The evening banquet courses are also great. It’s also a good choice for families with children, both for lunch and dinner.
