Introduction

I recently visited the Thai eatery “Thong Lee” located on Soi 20 between BTS Asoke and BTS Phrom Phong stations, and I’m here to share my review. Thong Lee is approximately a 14-minute walk from BTS Asoke station and a 16-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong station.

About the Thai eatery “Thong Lee” on Soi 20

The Thai eatery “Thong Lee” on Soi 20 is located about a 14-minute walk from BTS Asoke station and a 16-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong station. At the mouth of Soi 20, there is a Khao Man Gai stall that I introduced previously, but Thong Lee is about a 10-minute walk from there.

As you can see in the photo, the entrance to “Thong Lee” is covered in plants, so it might be better to use that as a landmark. If you look for the sign, you’ll likely walk right past it. It’s said to be a long-established restaurant, over 60 years old.

Thong Lee is an open-air eatery without air conditioning, so it was a bit hot during this season. There were fans, however. When discussing street food stalls, I often mention the challenges of language and hygiene. In terms of language, the menu has plenty of photos and English text, and the staff speak English, so ordering is not difficult. As for hygiene, it was clean, without the presence of flies. I did not check the restroom.

Thong Lee’s Menu (Photos, Prices, Reviews)

“Thong Lee” is famous for its Gai Tod (fried chicken), and it’s rumored online to be known as the “Devil’s Gai Tod,” with people constantly falling under its spell.

So, I tried it right away! The Gai Tod is indeed delicious. It really goes well with beer. If you come to Thong Lee, you absolutely must order it. However, what surpassed it was the fried pork liver! The fresh, plump liver seasoned with garlic and pepper was superb. This also went incredibly well with beer!! Like their other dishes, their seasoning skills truly shine. The price, with food and drinks, came in under 400 THB, which was also fantastic.

Thong Lee Recommendation Score

To be helpful, I’ll assign a score based on Tabelog’s system. For the Thai eatery “Thong Lee” on Soi 20, I personally feel it corresponds to around a 3.5 on Tabelog. I’ll note this down.

Conclusion

“Thong Lee,” the Thai eatery on Soi 20, is recommended for those who love fried chicken and liver! It’s also not overly difficult to navigate as a local eatery, so if you want to try authentic Thai food in Bangkok, please give it a try!
