Introduction
I recently visited “Ong Tong / オントーン”, a specialist khao soi restaurant located in the food court on the basement floor of EmQuartier, directly connected to BTS Phrom Phong station. I’m here to share my review.
About the Michelin Khao Soi restaurant “Ong Tong” in Phrom Phong
EmQuartier, a large commercial building directly connected to BTS Phrom Phong station, houses a food court on its basement (B1) floor. Within this food court, you’ll find “Ong Tong / オントーン,” a specialty khao soi restaurant. It takes about a 5-minute walk from the Phrom Phong station ticket gates to Ong Tong. Since it’s an indoor walk, you don’t have to worry about the rain.
Ong Tong is a recipient of the Michelin Bib Gourmand award. The Michelin mark is proudly displayed at the storefront.
For context, khao soi is a classic dish from Northern Thailand, Chiang Mai. It’s essentially a “Northern Thai-style curry noodle soup.” It features a mild curry noodle soup made with a coconut milk base, served with egg noodles. The noodles are deep-fried as well.

Ong Tong Menu (Photos, Prices, Review)
I ordered the signature dish, “Chicken Khao Soi (119 THB).” Some noodles were crispy from not being fully submerged in the soup, while others were chewy. The chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender. The curry soup was rich but not spicy. Adding the separate toppings (pickled cabbage, raw onion, and lime) enhanced the complexity and flavor. While it’s typical for Thai soup to be served lukewarm, I still find it takes some getting used to.

Ong Tong Recommendation Score
To be helpful, I’ll assign a score similar to Tabelog. For Ong Tong / オントーン, the khao soi specialist in the EmQuartier food court, I personally estimate it to be around a 3.2 on the Tabelog scale. I’ll make a note of this.
The high points are the affordable price and the convenience of enjoying Michelin Bib Gourmand khao soi at a food court. If you like khao soi or happen to be at EmQuartier food court, it’s worth a try. On the other hand, personally, I don’t find it to be exceptionally delicious. It’s possible that the taste might be slightly diminished in a food court setting, so it might be even better at their other branches.
Conclusion
Ong Tong / オントーン, the khao soi specialist in the EmQuartier food court, is recommended for khao soi lovers. It’s also great that you can easily enjoy a Michelin Bib Gourmand award-winning dish at an affordable price in a food court setting.
