Introduction

I recently visited the izakaya “Sekai no Yamachan Thailand Main Branch” located about an 8-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong Station, and I’d like to share my review.

About the Japanese Izakaya “Sekai no Yamachan Thailand Main Branch” in Phrom Phong

The izakaya “Sekai no Yamachan Thailand Main Branch” is situated about an 8-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong Station, along Sukhumvit Soi 39. It’s easily noticeable with its red torii gate and a large statue of Yamachan at the entrance. Across the street is Treasure Factory, a popular spot for Japanese shoppers. Sekai no Yamachan, as many know, originated in Nagoya and is famous for its chicken wings. Currently, it has 45 stores in Japan and 10 in Thailand, with expansions into Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Menu at “Sekai no Yamachan Thailand Main Branch” (Photos, Prices, Review)

I tried the weekday lunch set, the “Miso Tonkatsu Teishoku” for 250 THB. The miso pork cutlet was decent, but the shredded cabbage wasn’t very fresh. It came with pickles, soup, and green tea.

Other weekday lunch sets available included Chicken Nanban Teishoku, Moyashi Itame Teishoku, Moya Tama Teishoku, Fried Rice Set, Kimchi Fried Rice Set, Garlic Fried Rice Set, and Karaage Teishoku.

In addition to the lunch sets, there’s also a grand menu. I ordered the “Maboroshi no Tebasaki (Phantom Chicken Wings)” for 5 pieces at 139 THB. It felt essential to order this. This is it – the familiar phantom chicken wings. I hadn’t eaten them in Japan for a while and was reminded of their taste.

I also ordered the “Neo Yamachan Salad” for 210 THB, which was quite substantial and satisfying.

Recommendation Rating for “Sekai no Yamachan Thailand Main Branch”

To be helpful, I’ll assign a score based on the Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site) rating system. For “Sekai no Yamachan Thailand Main Branch” in Phrom Phong, I personally estimate it to be around a 3.0 on the Tabelog scale. I’ll leave this note here.

Conclusion

For those craving Yamachan in Bangkok, the izakaya “Sekai no Yamachan Thailand Main Branch” in Phrom Phong is a must-visit! The “Phantom Chicken Wings” are recreated with high fidelity!
