Introduction
I recently visited the Thai restaurant “Imchan” located about a 1-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong station, and I’d like to share my review.
About the casual Thai restaurant “Imchan” in Phrom Phong
Imchan is located approximately one minute on foot from BTS Phrom Phong station. It’s a well-known establishment frequently featured in Japanese travel guides and ranks highly on Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site) Bangkok rankings, making it popular among tourists and expatriates alike.
Imchan is a large, open-air establishment. While it doesn’t have air conditioning, it does have fans. I found it to be quite clean for a casual restaurant. I didn’t notice any flies, and the restrooms were also clean.

Imchan Menu (Photos, Prices, Reviews)
Imchan offers a wide variety of Thai and Asian dishes. These include Hainanese Chicken Rice (Khao Man Gai), Pad Krapow, Pad Thai, Tom Yum Goong, fried rice, grilled and fried items, meat, fish, and vegetable dishes, among many others (I’ve included several menu photos below, but there are even more!). All menu items are reasonably priced, making it easy to enjoy a variety of dishes without worry. Everything on the menu at Imchan is consistently delicious. It offers a very stable dining experience.

In terms of being accessible to tourists and those new to Bangkok, similar to Sabaijai (a Thai restaurant in Ekkamai), Imchan is a good choice. Personally, I feel Imchan is more of a city-style restaurant where you can enjoy light yet delicious Thai cuisine. Sabaijai, on the other hand, is located deeper in Ekkamai and can be harder to access, but it offers even more authentic Thai dishes, particularly Isaan cuisine like Gai Yang and Som Tum.
Imchan Recommendation Score
To be helpful, I’ll assign a score based on the Tabelog rating system. I personally estimate Imchan to be around a 3.5 on the Tabelog scale.
Its convenient location and the ability to enjoy a variety of delicious and reliable Thai dishes are significant advantages. It’s a great option for tourists and beginners in Bangkok. However, those seeking a deeper dive into Thai cuisine might eventually find it slightly lacking.
Conclusion
Imchan, a Thai restaurant in Phrom Phong, is highly recommended for tourists and those new to Bangkok. It offers a wide menu with affordable and delicious dishes, providing a consistently stable and reliable dining experience overall.
