I recently visited the Bistro & Bar “Trading Post” at the 137 Pillars Hotel, located about a 13-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong Station. I’d like to share my review.

About a 13-minute walk north along Sukhumvit Soi 39 from BTS Phrom Phong Station, you’ll find the five-star “137 Pillars Hotel.” The Bistro & Bar “Trading Post” is located on the ground floor of the hotel.
Trading Post is an open-air bistro & bar with a garden, offering a great atmosphere to enjoy food and drinks.
The name “Trading Post” might bring to mind a select shop for leather shoes in Japan, but it appears to have no connection to the Trading Post at 137 Pillars Hotel.
Trading Post Menu (Photos, Prices, and Review)
Trading Post hosts a happy hour daily from 5 PM to 7 PM with a Buy 1 Get 1 Free offer. You can order different menus at different times, which effectively means you get a 50% discount on your drinks. While Buy 1 Get 1 Free deals can sometimes be disappointing if you have to order the same item simultaneously and the ice melts, this flexible offer allows you to enjoy your chosen cocktails perfectly.
I tried the signature “Bussaba Bleeze” (380 THB++). As expected from a five-star hotel, it’s quite pricey, but effectively half price during happy hour. The Bussaba Bleeze is a Tanqueray gin-based cocktail with elderflower, watermelon, lime juice, egg white, and soda. It’s a refreshing cocktail, but the egg white also added a certain richness. I had high hopes for the recipe, but it turned out to be a very ordinary cocktail.
I also tried the equally signature “Scarlet Garden” (380 THB++). It looked gorgeous with its floral presentation, but again, the taste was just average. The “MIMOSA” (340 THB++) and “White Wine” (340 THB++) were also standard mimosas and white wine.
Perhaps my expectations were too high due to a previous excellent experience at “The Lobbyist” in Chiang Mai. While the cocktails at Trading Post have impressive presentation and are decent, they don’t showcase the refined skill of a master mixologist in terms of taste. The service also lacked a strong sense of hospitality.
Trading Post Recommendation Score
To provide some reference, I’ll assign a score similar to Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site). For the Bistro & Bar “Trading Post” at 137 Pillars Hotel in Phrom Phong, I personally rate it around 3.1 on the Tabelog scale.
The upscale ambiance of the five-star hotel is a definite plus. However, based on my experience with the cocktails (even at happy hour prices), they were quite average for the price point.
