Introduction
I recently visited the izakaya “Thonglor Yokocho” located about a 16-minute walk from BTS Thonglor Station, and I’d like to share my review.
About the Japanese izakaya “Thonglor Yokocho” in Thonglor
Thonglor Yokocho is located approximately a 16-minute walk from BTS Thonglor Station. It can be found on Thonglor Soi 11, near the Audrey Cafe, which I previously introduced.
Thonglor Yokocho is an izakaya designed in a nostalgic, alleyway style, decorated with many retro posters. The music played is classic Japanese hits. Due to its atmosphere, Thonglor Yokocho always seems to have a large number of foreign customers (Westerners and Asians). All the izakaya menu items at Thonglor Yokocho are delicious. Inside Thonglor Yokocho, there is also a “Hokkaido Soup Curry” restaurant, and you can enjoy their soup curry as a snack with drinks at Thonglor Yokocho.

I ordered the “Omakase Kushiage Assortment (5 skewers) for 160 THB++”. The yakitori at Thonglor Yokocho are large and satisfying. I also had the “Today’s Yokocho Ajillo for 149 THB++”. This day it featured mushrooms and beef tendon, which tasted great. I ordered the “Freshly Squeezed Lemon Sour for 150 THB++”. It was Buy 1 Get 2 Free during happy hour. When you order, you receive one freshly squeezed lemon sour and two small gold coins in a masu box. After finishing your drink, you hand over a coin to receive another drink. I also tried the “Yokocho Lemon Sour for 170 THB++”. This was not part of the happy hour promotion, but I received it for free using a promotional coupon. It had a different flavor and was delicious.
The menu was very extensive. The photos show only a small selection.
Thonglor Yokocho Recommendation Score
To provide a reference, I will assign a score similar to Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site). I personally estimate Thonglor Yokocho, the izakaya in Thonglor, to be equivalent to a 3.4 on Tabelog, and I’ll note that here.
The nostalgic atmosphere of a good old Japanese izakaya and the delicious izakaya menu are high points.
Conclusion
Thonglor Yokocho in Thonglor is a nostalgic, good old Japanese izakaya. It is recommended for those who want to enjoy authentic izakaya food in a great atmosphere. It seems suitable for groups as well.
