I recently visited the Japanese curry restaurant “CoCo Ichibanya” located on the B1 floor food court of EmQuartier, directly connected to BTS Phrom Phong station. I’d like to share my review.

CoCo Ichibanya is located on the B1 floor food court of EmQuartier, a shopping mall directly connected to BTS Phrom Phong station. It takes about a 5-minute walk from the Phrom Phong station ticket gates to CoCo Ichibanya. Since it’s indoors, you don’t have to worry about the rain.
CoCo Ichibanya is very popular in Thailand, with approximately 50 stores nationwide. Near EmQuartier in Phrom Phong, you can also find branches at Terminal 21 in Asoke and CentralWorld.
In Japan, you can adjust the spice level up to 20 with an additional charge. However, in Thailand, spice level adjustment is free. There are levels 1 to 5, with level 5 reportedly equivalent to 24 levels of spiciness.

I ordered the classic “Katsu Curry” (210 THB++) with spice level 3 (equivalent to 12 spice levels). I added the “A Set” (80 THB++) for a salad and drink. While the Katsu Curry is priced higher than in Japan (around 1000 JPY), considering the free spice level adjustments, it’s comparable (approximately 1100 JPY in Thailand, assuming 1 THB = 4.5 JPY).
I’m not an expert on CoCo Ichibanya, but I feel the taste is very similar to the Japanese version. The katsu (fried cutlet) is also good, and I believe the fukujinzuke (pickled radish relish) is the same too. It’s a great option for fans of CoCo Ichibanya or anyone craving authentic Japanese curry.
Recommendation Score for “CoCo Ichibanya”
To be helpful, I’ll assign a score based on the Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site) scale. For “CoCo Ichibanya” at EmQuartier Phrom Phong, I personally estimate it to be around a 3.0 on Tabelog, so I’ll make a note of that.

“CoCo Ichibanya” at EmQuartier Phrom Phong offers a taste that is just like the one in Japan. It’s recommended for fans of CoCo Ichibanya or anyone who is craving authentic Japanese curry.
