Introduction

I recently visited the Japanese-style Chinese restaurant “Ramen Ichiban” located about a 2-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong Station, and I’d like to share my review.

About the Japanese-style Chinese restaurant “Ramen Ichiban” in Phrom Phong

Ramen Ichiban is located about a 2-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong Station, along Sukhumvit Soi 24. While the area has many massage parlors and might seem a bit sketchy, being on the main road makes it easily accessible. It might be best to avoid bringing children here.

Although Ramen Ichiban is a ramen shop, it offers a wide variety of noodle and Chinese dishes, giving it the feel of a Japanese “machi-chuka” (neighborhood Chinese restaurant).

The interior is very spacious, with about 10 four-seater tables and roughly 10 counter seats.

I tried their signature dish, the “Nira Soba” (190 THB). It’s very affordable! The Nira Soba has a light soy sauce soup, similar to those found in “shinachiku” ramen, topped with chives, ginger, and thickened minced pork. It has a gentle yet slightly stimulating flavor. It’s “affordable, delicious, gentle, and a little stimulating.” This flavor balance could only be achieved by someone who truly understands Japanese tastes. I believe it’s the kind of taste that Japanese people would get addicted to.

The portion size is on the smaller side, so many customers seemed to order it as part of a set. Since there were many chive-based dishes on the menu, it seems that chive dishes are their specialty.

Ramen Ichiban Recommendation Score

To be helpful, I’ll assign a score based on Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site) standards. For Ramen Ichiban, a Japanese-style Chinese restaurant in Phrom Phong, I personally estimate it to be around a 3.3 on the Tabelog scale. I’ll leave this note here for reference.

Conclusion

Ramen Ichiban, a Japanese-style Chinese restaurant in Phrom Phong, offers affordable, delicious, gentle, and slightly stimulating dishes. I believe you’ll find the Japanese neighborhood Chinese food experience you’re looking for here.
