Introduction

I recently visited the ramen shop “Kyoto TORI Ramen HACHICKEN” located in EmSphere, about a 7-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong Station. I’d like to share my review.

About the affordable chicken ramen restaurant “Kyoto TORI Ramen HACHICKEN” in Phrom Phong

EmSphere is located about a 7-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong Station. “Kyoto TORI Ramen HACHICKEN” can be found on the GM Floor (mezzanine level) of EmSphere, accessible from the pedestrian deck connecting to the station.

EmSphere, as you may know, is a high-rise shopping mall that opened in Phrom Phong in 2023. Personally, I find the restaurant prices there a bit higher compared to Emporium and EmQuartier, perhaps because there’s no food court. However, within EmSphere, “Kyoto TORI Ramen HACHICKEN” offers authentic ramen at budget-friendly prices starting from just 99 THB+! It’s even cheaper than “Torisoba Nanase” located nearby (Asoke, Phrom Phong, Thonglor).

“Kyoto TORI Ramen HACHICKEN” is a ramen shop produced by “Haoki An,” a long-established chicken specialty restaurant in Kyoto. They have four branches in Bangkok and one in Singapore. They have established a presence in major shopping malls such as Terminal 21 in Asoke & Rama 3, EmSphere, and One Bangkok. The EmSphere branch has a simple setup, similar to a food court.

Menu at “Kyoto TORI Ramen HACHICKEN” (Photos, Prices, Review)

The basic menu consists of four types of ramen: “Shoyu Ramen” (Soy Sauce Ramen) for 99 THB+, “Yuzu Shio Ramen” (Yuzu Salt Ramen) for 99 THB+, “Miso Ramen” for 109 THB+, and “Paitan Ramen” (Rich Chicken Broth Ramen) for 129 THB+. For each, you can choose between chicken chashu and duck chashu, or have both in a “Special” version. There are also various toppings and chicken dish set menus available.

I decided to try the “Paitan Ramen (Duck)” for 129 THB+ to compare it with Nanase. When asked if I wanted salt or soy sauce base, I chose salt based on the staff’s recommendation. Since there was only one other table occupied, my ramen arrived in about five minutes. Upon tasting the soup, my first impression was that it was sweet and lacked richness. I felt the overall ramen composition wasn’t quite at a high level yet. The noodles and duck chashu were average. The onions on top were pungent, and combined with the sweet soup, left a less-than-pleasant aftertaste. It was quite different from Nanase, which stands favorably against Japanese chicken paitan ramen.

Rating for “Kyoto TORI Ramen HACHICKEN”

To be helpful, I’ll assign a score following the style of Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site). For “Kyoto TORI Ramen HACHICKEN” at EmSphere, Phrom Phong, I personally consider it equivalent to around a 3.0 on Tabelog, so I’ll make a note of that.

The high points are its super convenient location in EmSphere, Phrom Phong, and the affordable prices for Japanese ramen. On the other hand, perhaps because their main business is chicken cuisine and they are relatively new to ramen, the ramen itself isn’t highly refined.

Conclusion

“Kyoto TORI Ramen HACHICKEN” in EmSphere, Phrom Phong is recommended for those who want to eat ramen quickly and affordably in a prime location like Phrom Phong and EmSphere.
