Introduction
I recently visited the miso ramen specialty restaurant “Miso Chikura” located about a 4-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong Station, and I’d like to share my review.
About the miso ramen specialty restaurant “Miso Chikura” in Phrom Phong
Miso Chikura, a specialty miso ramen restaurant, is located about a 4-minute walk from BTS Phrom Phong Station. It’s on Soi 33/1, just before Fuji Supermarket Branch 1. It’s in the same row as “O’Shea’s Irish Pub” and “Custard Nakamura“, which I’ve reviewed before.
Miso Chikura has apparently been perfecting miso ramen for 32 years in Japan and Vietnam. The sign says “Hokkaido Miso Ramen.”

Miso Chikura Menu (Photos, Prices, Reviews)
I ordered the “Rich Miso Ramen M” (290 THB). This is the standard size. S is 90g of noodles, M is 120g, and L is 180g. A free bowl of rice is included during lunchtime.
As soon as the ramen arrived, a wonderful aroma of sansho filled the air. It wasn’t just the typical ramen shop smell; it was more like something from a high-end Japanese or Chinese restaurant. When I asked the owner, he mentioned they add a bit of hua jiao (Sichuan peppercorn). Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.
Taking my first sip of the soup, it was incredibly rich and well-aged. I can almost taste it again now… The harmony between the aroma and the flavor is superb. I doubt I’d easily find miso ramen of this caliber even in Japan. The noodles are also excellent; the thick soup clings perfectly to the curly noodles. It really makes you want to eat rice with it.
Even after finishing the meal, the subtle tingle of the hua jiao lingered. It’s similar to the pleasant sensation of yuzu that remains in your mouth and nose after eating tsukemen. It was perfect.
I also tried the “Spicy Miso M” (320 THB). It’s like the rich miso ramen, but with a pleasant level of spice. The hua jiao is also present. Perhaps they deep-fry the onions, as there are occasional hints of sweetness within the spiciness. Again, the thick soup clung beautifully to the curly noodles, making it delicious and perfect with rice.
They also seem to have some appetizer menus, so it looks like it could be a good spot for a casual drink and small bites, like an izakaya.

Miso Chikura Recommendation Score
To be helpful, I’ll assign a score based on the Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site) system. For Miso Chikura, a miso ramen specialty restaurant in Phrom Phong, I personally feel it’s equivalent to a 3.7 on Tabelog. I’ll note this down.
The high evaluation point is undoubtedly the taste. It’s a happiness to be able to eat such delicious miso ramen in Bangkok. On the other hand, while I understand it’s unavoidable when eating ramen in Thailand, the prices are higher compared to Japan. It’s also a shame that the drinks are pricey. It would be nice to have sets or happy hour options.
Conclusion
Miso Chikura, the miso ramen specialty restaurant in Phrom Phong, is highly recommended for ramen lovers and miso ramen enthusiasts. It’s especially irresistible for those who enjoy rich, flavorful miso ramen.
