Introduction

I recently visited the Japanese bakery “Shirokumaya Bakery,” located about an 11-minute walk from BTS Thonglor Station, and I’d like to share my review.

About the Japanese bakery “Shirokumaya Bakery” in Thonglor

Shirokumaya Bakery is situated approximately an 11-minute walk from BTS Thonglor Station. Head north along Thonglor Road (Sukhumvit 55), turn into Thonglor Soi 5, and it’s a short distance down on a corner.

The bakery is housed within a distinctive mall. It shares the premises with “Onikutogohan” (a rather long name!), managed by Piggy from the well-known YouTube channel “TJ Channel,” and the renowned Teppanyaki French restaurant “Teppan French Kanda.” For food lovers, this mall is a dream destination. Judging by the number of visitors, the parking lot is quite spacious.

Shirokumaya Bakery Menu (Photos, Prices, Reviews)

I purchased the “Matcha Red Bean Shokupan” for takeout. It’s usually 320B, but it was on promotion for 229B that day. They often hold promotions, so I recommend signing up for their LINE Official Account: Shirokumaya Bakery LINE Official Account.

Getting back to the bread itself, it was surprisingly chewy and moist. While I’m no bread expert, Shirokumaya Bakery’s fresh bread is exactly like Japanese “shokupan” (loaf bread) and quite different from the bread commonly found in Bangkok. I asked the staff, and they explained that the bread is made using techniques passed down from Japanese artisans, with a high proportion of high-quality flour, resulting in its unique chewy and moist texture.

On another occasion, I also tried the “Gateau Chocolat.” That day, the Gateau Chocolat, usually priced at 660B, was on promotion for 500B. It seems I keep catching their promotions – they’re just so appealing! The chocolate flavor was incredibly rich. I tried it chilled, warmed in the microwave, and a combination of both. “Chilled and slightly warmed” was the best for me. I recommend you try it too!

By the way, Shirokumaya Bakery has a sister store, “Shirokumaya Cafe,” in Phrom Phong. I’ve heard it offers lunch menus and has comfortable sofa seating, so I’m eager to visit that one too.

Shirokumaya Bakery Recommendation Score

To be helpful, I’ll assign a score similar to how Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site) does. For the cafe and bakery “Shirokumaya Bakery” in Thonglor, I personally feel it would rate around a 3.4 on Tabelog. I’ll note that down for reference.

Conclusion

At the Thonglor cafe and bakery “Shirokumaya Bakery,” you can enjoy delicious, chewy, and moist Japanese-style fresh bread! Be sure to sign up for their LINE account to receive updates on great promotions!
