Introduction

I recently visited the family restaurant “TOOK LAE DEE,” located about a 13-minute walk from BTS Thong Lo Station, and I’d like to share my review.

About the affordable family restaurant “TOOK LAE DEE” in Thong Lo

About a 13-minute walk from BTS Thong Lo Station, along Thong Lo Road (Sukhumvit Soi 55), you’ll find a shopping mall called “Eight Thonglor.” In the basement level of Eight Thonglor is the supermarket “Foodland,” and within it is “TOOK LAE DEE.”

You can find TOOK LAE DEE wherever Foodland is located. In this area, there are branches in the northern part of Thong Lo and in Asoke.

TOOK LAE DEE means “cheap and good” in Thai, and true to its name, it’s an affordable and delicious family restaurant. The menu focuses on Thai and Western cuisine, with a variety of drinks and desserts available. TOOK LAE DEE operates 24 hours a day.

“TOOK LAE DEE” Menu (Photos, Prices, Reviews)

I tried the “Pork Fried Rice (Khao Pad)” for 79 THB. It was fluffy, flavorful, and delicious. The addition of tomatoes and a squeeze of lime made it refreshingly tart. For a family-friendly restaurant, I think the price is quite affordable.

I also had the “Spaghetti Meat Sauce” for 117 THB. It was a simple meat sauce, similar to what you’d find in a Japanese cafe. While slightly more expensive than Thai dishes, it’s still inexpensive.

For dessert, I had the “Caramel Custard” for 56 THB, a rich caramel custard pudding. It was a bit sweet but delicious. The “Coconut Milk with Tofu Pudding” for 45 THB was a refreshing option with mildly sweet coconut milk and a mildly sweet white pudding. The single slice of coconut on top was a nice touch.

For drinks, I tried the signature “TOOK LAE DEE Iced Tea” for 54 THB. This is a must-try at least once. The glass contained ice cubes made from frozen Thai iced tea, and the drink was served by pouring Thai iced tea, milk, and syrup over them. Since the ice wasn’t made from water, the tea didn’t get diluted. It was also stylish and rich. Delicious!

A Coke was 35 THB.

As for other menu items, they offer Western dishes like pasta, hamburgers, sandwiches, fried foods, soups, salads, steaks, sausages, and grills. For Thai food, there are rice dishes, noodle dishes, curries, and soups. They even have Japanese curry. Additionally, there’s a wide selection of desserts and drinks. The extensive variety ensures that even families with children can find something they’ll enjoy.

Recommendation Score for “TOOK LAE DEE”

To be helpful, I’ll assign a score based on the Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site) scale. I personally feel the family restaurant “TOOK LAE DEE,” located within Foodland, corresponds to about a 3.2 on Tabelog. I’ll make a note of this.

Conclusion

The family restaurant “TOOK LAE DEE,” located within Foodland, is recommended for families with children. It offers a variety of Western and Thai dishes, desserts, and drinks at affordable prices! Since it’s open 24 hours, it’s also great for late-night meals or breakfast.
