Introduction
I recently visited the soup curry restaurant “Hokkaido Soup Curry” located in Thonglor Alley, about a 17-minute walk from BTS Thonglor Station. I’d like to share my review.
About the soup curry restaurant “Hokkaido Soup Curry” in Thonglor
Hokkaido Soup Curry is located approximately a 17-minute walk from BTS Thonglor Station. Situated on Thonglor Soi 11, it’s nestled within Thonglor Alley, an area filled with izakayas. It’s conveniently located near “Audrey,” which I previously reviewed.
The owner, Mr. Sato, was born in Hokkaido and reportedly joined the Japan Self-Defense Forces after graduating high school. He later moved to Thailand, started his own business, and has been creating soup curry for over a decade (according to the YouTube channel “Bangkok Documentary Channel”).

Menu at “Hokkaido Soup Curry” (Photos and Prices)
As it was my first visit, I ordered the “Horo Horo Chicken Soup Curry” (290 THB), which was listed as a classic. The rich soup, made with a blend of over 20 spices and dashi broth, was served with a large chicken leg. The dish was generously filled with ingredients like red and green bell peppers, eggplant, pumpkin, carrots, and potatoes, all deep-fried to a glistening perfection that whet the appetite. I chose the “Classic Soup” base, but there are also “Shrimp Soup” and “Coconut Soup” options. You can choose your spice level from 3 (standard) on a scale of 100. For rice, you can select white rice or turmeric rice, with various portion sizes available. There are also 21 types of toppings, making it incredibly customizable!
The soup curry was incredibly delicious, with a rich, smooth flavor and a satisfying spicy kick. My friend’s “Hiroshima Oyster Soup Curry” also looked amazing. With so many variations to try, I’m definitely planning a repeat visit.
I also ordered a “Lassi” (20 THB). It was inexpensive and very refreshing, with a pleasant tartness.

Recommendation Score for “Hokkaido Soup Curry”
To help you decide, I’ll assign a score based on the Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site) rating system. I personally feel that Hokkaido Soup Curry near BTS Thonglor Station would be equivalent to a 3.6 on Tabelog. I’ll leave this here for reference.
The standout feature is undoubtedly the soup curry’s flavor, which is highly rated. While I haven’t had soup curry in Hokkaido, I believe this would rank among the very best soup curries even in Tokyo. The variety of customizable options also makes it incredibly appealing and encourages repeat visits. So far, I haven’t found any downsides.
