Introduction
I recently visited the stylish Italian restaurant “Big Mama Pizzeria” in Asoke and wanted to share my review. Information about restaurants in Bangkok isn’t abundant online, and especially restaurant review sites like Tabelog (Japan’s top restaurant-review site) seem scarce, with only Google and Wongnai offering much. I hope this review might be helpful to someone.
About the stylish Italian restaurant “Big Mama Pizzeria” in Asoke
I found Big Mama Pizzeria while researching on Wongnai in Japan and saw it had a high score. Coincidentally, I spotted the sign while taking a taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport to my hotel in Asoke, so I decided to give it a try. Big Mama Pizzeria is located just off Sukhumvit 21, heading north from Asoke Station (the Terminal 21 side), then turning left onto Asoke Soi 1. It’s about a 4-minute walk from Asoke Station.
Although the name includes “Pizzeria,” it’s an Italian restaurant with much more than just pizza. The menu is incredibly extensive, featuring pizzas, pastas, lasagnas, risottos, salads, pickles, antipasti, steaks, sausages, various meats, cheeses, soups, bread, roti, all sorts of potato dishes, various fish and seafood, and more. They also have a vast selection of drinks.
The restaurant offers both indoor and terrace seating, and both are very stylish. One of the two owners is a designer, and their artwork is displayed inside. The clientele is multinational, leaning towards a more affluent crowd, and spans a wide age range.
Big Mama’s Menu (Photos, Prices, and Review)
All the dishes at Big Mama are generously portioned. You can consider each dish and drink to be about 1.5 servings. I visited the restaurant for both dinner and lunch.
Dinner at Big Mama is incredibly stylish, moody, and has a great atmosphere. Of course, the food is delicious too! The complimentary bread is served with a green paste that seems to be a blend of cilantro, celery, and nuts. I’d never tried anything like it before! It was surprising how well the bread and cilantro combination worked.

Lunch offers excellent value for money. For around 300 THB, you can get a lunch set that typically includes a pasta dish, a choice of one side dish, and a choice of one dessert. However, in my experience, it seemed like they brought out all the side dishes and desserts (about 3-4 items each). In addition to the cheese spinach pilaf and fruit platter shown in the photos, I also received soup, bread, chicken, and more. It felt like my choice didn’t matter… I’m not sure if this is their standard operation or a pleasant mistake, but the value was incredible! Getting a course-like lunch for 300 THB felt exceptionally cheap. (Please verify this for yourself.)

Big Mama Pizzeria’s Recommendation Score
To be helpful, I’ll assign scores similar to Tabelog. Personally, I’d rate Big Mama around a 3.4 on the Tabelog scale for dinner and a 3.6 for lunch. (3.5+ = well-regarded)
Conclusion
I recommend “Big Mama Pizzeria” for occasions when you want to enjoy Italian food in a stylish yet casual setting, or when you’re looking for a little surprise. It’s a great choice for dining with close friends or for a slightly chic party.
