Bangkok Ramen Restaurant Ranking

We’ve created a ranking of recommended ramen restaurants in Bangkok. Ramen prices in Bangkok tend to be higher than in Japan, which can sometimes lead to lower scores. Please refer to this list for ramen shops that have achieved high ratings despite this!

About Our Rankings and Scores

In this blog, we review restaurants we’ve actually visited in Bangkok, recording our experiences based on food and drinks, atmosphere, cost performance, customer service, and more. The score provided with each review represents the “restaurant’s recommendation level.” We base our scoring on Japan’s top restaurant-review site, Tabelog.

For more details, please see our “Bangkok Recommended Restaurant Rankings.”

Let’s dive into the rankings!

1. Misomen Chizō (Phrom Phong, Miso Ramen, 3.7 points)

Misomen Chizō, a specialty miso ramen shop, has spent 32 years perfecting miso ramen in Japan and Vietnam before finally landing in Bangkok. Upon arrival, the dish is met with a wonderful aroma of sansho pepper. It doesn’t smell like a typical ramen shop; it’s more akin to a high-end Japanese or Chinese restaurant. When we asked the owner, they mentioned adding a touch of hua jiao (Sichuan peppercorn). Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.

2. Fujiyama 55 (Phrom Phong & others, Tsukemen & Mazesoba, 3.5 points)

Fujiyama 55 is a tsukemen and ramen shop originating from Nagoya. It boasts over 50 stores in Japan and 9 stores in Bangkok. Our top recommendation at Fujiyama 55 is definitely the tsukemen. Descriptions like “quite delicious even as Japanese tsukemen,” “a strong pork and seafood flavor from the broth,” and “wonderful aroma of seafood” perfectly capture its essence. It’s delicious. And don’t forget the “Cheese Risotto Set +60 THB” after you finish your noodles! After eating the noodles, add rice, a raw egg, and cheese to the remaining soup, and lightly simmer it on the tabletop stove. Delicious.

3. Kiri Tsukemen Specialty Shop (Thonglor, Tsukemen & Ramen, 3.4 points)

Kiri Tsukemen Specialty Shop offers both tsukemen and ramen. Both are delicious, but if it’s your first time, don’t hesitate to order the tsukemen. We tried the signature “Rich Tsukemen 350 THB+”. The rich seafood broth is delicious. The noodles are smooth and chewy, perfectly chilled and neatly arranged. The toppings include small pieces of chashu and menma in the dipping soup. The bowl contains chashu, menma, egg, nori, and kaiware. You can change the flavor once with garlic and once with lemon. The soup refill (soup wari) is also good. It’s authentic tsukemen, just like in Japan.

4. Seiryu Ramen (Thonglor, Tonkotsu Ramen, 3.4 points)

Seiryu Ramen offers a promotion on the 1st and 16th of every month from 11 AM to 8 PM, where their tonkotsu ramen is available for 100 THB+. Normally priced at 200 THB+, this is a half-price deal. Their signature feature is the rich soup. However, the value diminishes on days other than the monthly promotion.

5. Kaisugi (Phrom Phong, Soupless Tantanmen & Mazesoba, 3.4 points)

With its addictive flavor, this is highly recommended for ramen lovers. However, as ramen can be pricey, we suggest taking advantage of their promotions (e.g., “Chilled Chicken Mazesoba” 319 THB++ down to 249 THB++). Both the storefront and interior design show attention to detail. They have branches in Yamaguchi Prefecture and Bangkok.

6. Menya NARUTO (Thonglor, All Ramen Types, 3.3 points)

A large bowl filled with thick noodles and vegetables, appearing to be twice the size of a standard ramen. The soup is slightly emulsified and very good. The pork slices are generous, and it comes with a seasoned egg. You can enjoy authentic Jiro-style ramen here in Bangkok, though it costs 320 THB. The “Mazesoba 180 THB” is a budget-friendly and delicious option. We tried it hesitantly due to the low price compared to Jiro ramen, but it was tasty. You can add various toppings, making it a great value for money.

7. Nojiya Yuushi (Thonglor, All Ramen Types, 3.3 points)

Nojiya Yuushi offers ramen from various regions of Japan, including Hokkaido Miso, Jiro-style, Yamagata Spicy Miso, Yamagata Shonai Shoyu, Asakusa Umeshio, Tokyo Tonkotsu Shoyu, Yokohama Ankake, Nagasaki Champon, Kawasaki Tantan, Kyoto Stamina, Tom Yum Goong, Hakata Tonkotsu, Kurume Tonkotsu, Onomichi, Mongolian Ramen, Taiwanese Mazesoba, Tokyo Aburasoba, Hiroshima Soupless Tantan, and many more. I ordered the “Yujiro Ramen 230 THB.” Since it was free, I opted for extra garlic and extra back fat. As you can see from the photo, it’s an elegant Jiro-style ramen, with a light and balanced taste. The soup was not emulsified.

8. Nihon Mensakaba Ichikara (Phra Khanong, All Ramen Types, 3.3 points)

It’s especially great to enjoy the “Ichikara Highball 39 THB” during happy hour while digging into the “Ichikara Stamman Marutoku Jiro Ramen 299 THB.” The Jiro ramen is about 1.5 times the portion of a standard ramen shop. It’s a standard Jiro-style ramen with various punchy toppings added. Instead of pork slices, there are generous chunks of pork belly, with added onion, chives, and fried tempura bits. The soup was slightly emulsified and served hot. We requested extra garlic and extra back fat, which were free. It was a very hearty & powerful Jiro ramen.

9. Ramen Ichiban (Phrom Phong, Chinese-style Diner, 3.3 points)

Ramen Ichiban is a ramen shop, but it also offers a variety of noodle and Chinese dishes, reminiscent of a Japanese “machi-chuka” (neighborhood Chinese diner). The interior is very spacious, with about 10 four-person tables and seating for about 10 at the counter. We tried the signature “Nira Soba 190 THB.” It’s inexpensive. Nira Soba features a light soy sauce soup, common in “shinachiku” (Chinese soba), topped with chives, ginger, and thick minced pork. It has a gentle yet slightly stimulating flavor. It’s “inexpensive, delicious, gentle, and a little stimulating” – that’s the vibe. This balance of flavors can only be achieved by someone who truly understands Japanese tastes. I believe Japanese people will find this flavor addictive. Having a machi-chuka style diner in Bangkok is quite rare.

10. Torisoba Nanase (Thonglor & others, Chicken Paitan Ramen, 3.2 points)

Torisoba Nanase is a famous shop with its main branch in Chiba. It landed in Thonglor in 2015 and now appears to have several branches across Thailand, including in Asoke and Phrom Phong. When it first opened in 2015, a bowl of ramen was surprisingly only 80 THB! Torisoba Nanase offers a vast menu. There are about 20 types of ramen alone, plus rice bowls, lunch sets, and side dishes (like fried chicken and gyoza). Make sure to try the signature “Nanase Chicken Soba.” It’s a high-level, rich chicken paitan ramen.

11. Hakata Umma (Asoke & others, Ramen Izakaya, 3.1 points)

Recommended for those seeking authentic Japanese flavors in both ramen and izakaya dishes! Its mild taste makes it a great choice for families with children!
