About the Ranking

In this blog, we record reviews of restaurants in Bangkok that we have actually visited, based on factors such as food, drinks, atmosphere, cost performance, customer service, and service. Following Japan’s gourmet service “Tabelog” (Japan’s top restaurant-review site), we assign scores to our reviews. Based on these scores, we present our “Bangkok Recommended Restaurant Ranking,” which we hope you will find useful for your culinary adventures.

About the Scores

The scores provided with the reviews indicate the “restaurant’s recommendation level.” We have assigned these scores in a similar manner to Japan’s restaurant review site, Tabelog. Generally, the scoring is as follows:

4.5〜5.0Restaurants offering ultimate satisfaction, recommended for extremely important occasions. Worth traveling for, no matter the distance.
4.0〜4.4Restaurants offering extremely high satisfaction, recommended for important occasions. Worth the effort to visit.
3.5〜3.9Restaurants with high satisfaction, reliably recommended.
3.0〜3.4Average to slightly good restaurants, often with some notable points.
〜2.9Restaurants with issues; not recommended.

Now, let’s announce the ranking!

① Kenny’s BKK (Phrom Phong/Ari, Pizza Restaurant, 3.8 points)

The wood-fired pizzas are, as expected, delicious, but there are many other tasty dishes on the menu as well. It’s a pizza restaurant where you can enjoy discovering dishes, thinking “This looks good,” and “This too!” They also have a wide selection of wines and craft beers. Since it’s a relatively new establishment, the prices are quite reasonable. It’s suitable for various occasions, from dates and parties with friends to family gatherings.

② Bong A / Bong Ga (Phrom Phong, Korean Cuisine, 3.8 points)

Bong Ga offers a delicious and great value weekday lunch menu. The main dish comes with banchan (side dishes) and a dessert of watermelon. Main dish options include dishes like Bulgogi-style stir-fried pork, Sundubu Jjigae, and Stone-baked Bibimbap, all of which are tasty. I particularly enjoyed the Bulgogi-style stir-fried pork, as I prefer rich flavors. They offer 8 types of banchan that are free and refillable, with the kimchi being especially delicious. The spacious interior and VIP rooms available for a fee make it a versatile dining spot.

Misomen Chikura, a specialty miso ramen restaurant, has apparently perfected miso ramen for 32 years in Japan and Vietnam. The sign reads “Hokkaido Miso Ramen.” The “Rich Miso Ramen M” costs 290 THB. Upon arrival, a pleasant aroma of sansho (Japanese pepper) fills the air. It’s not the typical ramen shop smell; it’s more akin to a high-end Japanese or Chinese restaurant. The owner mentioned adding a small amount of hua jiao (Sichuan pepper). Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. The soup is rich from fermented miso and clings perfectly to the wavy noodles.
